Technology

Visique Nikon AutorefractorOur experts use the latest technology as our standard of care, including:

  • Digital Retinal Photography for detecting diseases at the back of the eye.
  • Auto Refraction to give an initial assessment of any refractive errors that may be present.
  • Zeiss Matrix Visual Fields Analysis for glaucoma detection, assessment and detecting the presence of any neurologically related vision changes.
  • Corneal Topography to digitally map the critical corneal surface.

Digital Retinal Photography

Retinal CameraOur high-resolution Digital Retinal Camera allows us to take a photo of the back of your eye. This allows a more detailed and wider-angled view than would normally be achieved with conventional observation methods.

Services RetinalThe real value of retinal photography is that it provides a benchmark in the condition of your eye. This makes future changes easier to monitor. This technology is especially valuable for detecting slow moving pathological processes such as in glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes related eye changes. Retinal images such as this one are kept on file to monitor future changes allowing direct comparisons to be made of your retinas from visit to visit.

Digital retinal images are included in your eye consultation and have been since 2008.

Zeiss Matrix

Zeiss MatrixThe new Zeiss Matrix is our most recent addition, and represents the latest development in the area of Glaucoma assessment.

This sensitive device enables the detection of any visual field defects you may have in their earliest stages and can detect visual field changes missed by other methods. In the early stages of Glaucoma, you are highly unlikely to be aware that you are developing the condition.

By enabling the earliest detection of visual field defects, this highly detailed assessment method improves the success of treatment of this silent thief of sight to prevent eyesight loss. More than half of the people that have glaucoma have no idea they have the condition. The Zeiss Matrix also detects common neurological conditions that affect your vision.

Your screening test is included in the standard adult eye consultation. More detailed tests can be used if indicated following your screening.

Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser II

Corneal TopographerThe Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser II is a diagnostic tool used to examine your visual field in more detail if the Zeiss Matrix shows visual field changes.

The Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyser II visual field testing is an important tool in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. It is used to confirm if glaucoma has affected the visual function, evaluate severity and to monitor progression of the disease. It is the recognised standard of care for assessing change in the management of ocular diseases resulting in visual field loss.

Corneal Topography

Corneal topography digitally maps the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye. Since the cornea is normally responsible for some 70% of the eye’s refractive power its topography can be of critical importance in determining the quality of vision.

Corneal Maps Wide

Using the leading Medmont E300 Corneal Topographer, the computer generated digital 3D map is invaluable in the diagnosis and treatment of a number of conditions; in planning refractive surgery such as LASIK and evaluation of its results; or in assessing the fit and performance of contact lenses, including our very popular Orthokeratology (Ortho-K).

Corneal Topography does not touch the eye and takes only seconds to perform.
